Festival Timeline

1. Kickoff Event - Friday, Sept. 19, 6PM-8PM at Flyway Brewing Company (598 Monroe Ave, Memphis, TN 38103) 

   • 6:00 PM - teams check in & socialize.

   • 6:30 PM - the challenge setup begins:

     • Each team draws a genre from a punchbowl (e.g., comedy, drama, sci-fi).

     • Each team is assigned a unique prop to include in their film.

     • A line of dialogue is revealed (same for all teams) & must be included in every film.

   • 7:00 PM - The 53-hour Film Challenge clock starts! (Disperse & begin filmmaking or stick around & mingle)

2. Filmmaking - (Friday, Sept. 19, 7:00PM - Sunday, Sept. 21, Midnight)

• Participating Teams write, shoot, edit, & score their original short film (max runtime 7min, plus 60secs for credits).

• Submit completed films by Midnight on Sunday via [online upload link to be provided]

• Pro Tips:

  • 1. Start writing immediately! (brainstorm together or put your writer to work & get busy!)

  • 2. Check in with writer constantly because there will be things you can start working on before the script is finished.

  • 3. Get your editor involved as soon as you start shooting, they can begin piecing everything together right away to save time.

  • 4. Have fun & embrace the chaos!

  3. Screening & Awards - Friday, Sept. 19, 6PM-10PM at Flyway Brewing Company! (598 Monroe Ave, Memphis, TN 38103)

• 6:00 PM - Networking, purchase food and drinks, mingle and find a seat.

• 6:30 PM - Screenings begin! 

• 9:30 PM - Awards ceremony plus Winning Filmmakers Q&A

 

--Friends & family can attend screenings for a $10 ticket (team members admitted free).

--A 20-minute awards ceremony follows, with prizes for categories like Best Film, Best Cinematography, and more [specific awards to be confirmed].
